makegeodiagrams.com is a small service run by an individual. This page says what we keep, why, and who else sees it. Questions go to contact@makegeodiagrams.com.
Your problems stay yours
- We never open your conversations, unless you send one to us with the Feedback button or ask us to look at it, or the law requires it.
- We never publish your problems, solutions or figures, and never show them to anyone else.
- We never use your problems to train AI models, to build examples, or to test the service.
- When you delete a conversation, it is deleted from our server at once, with every copy: nothing of it stays in our logs, our caches or our backups. Our hosting provider's automatic backups of the whole server are replaced within three weeks, and it goes with them. (A copy you sent us as feedback is the one exception, explained below.)
- Our server logs never contain what you write.
- One thing we cannot promise: to make a figure, what you write is sent to AI service providers, and one of them may use the text it receives to improve its own AI models. Once it is sent, we cannot recall it. So please do not send a problem that must stay secret — for example one you will propose to a competition, or one from a paper not yet published.
What we keep
- Your account: your email address, your name if you give one, and your password in a hashed form we cannot read back. If you sign in with Google, Google tells us your name, your email address (and that Google has verified it) and an identifier of your Google account, which we keep with your account; we get no Google password and no access to anything else in your Google account.
- Your work: the problem statements, solutions and chat messages you send, and the figures and versions made from them. They are stored with your account so you can come back to them.
- Usage: what each action used (figures, edits, credits), to run your plan.
- Orders: what you ordered, the price, its date, and the references our reseller Paddle.com gives the payment, your subscription and you as its customer, with the subscription's status and dates and any refund. We never see your full card number and keep no card details: Paddle's payment notices to us include the card type, its last four digits, its expiry and the name on it, which we do not keep.
- Feedback: what you send us with the Feedback button — your note and, if you choose to include them, a copy of the conversation and the diagram — with your browser's name. We are also emailed your note and the conversation's title. It is kept, even if you delete that conversation, until you ask us to delete it or your account is deleted.
- Server logs: the time, the page or action asked for and your IP address, and a one-line record of each figure or edit (how long it took, how it ended, the credits it used) — never what you write. They are kept for up to five weeks, to keep the service secure and to limit abuse.
Who else sees it
- To make a figure, your problem statements, solutions and edits are sent to third-party AI service providers, which process them under their own terms. They may keep what they receive, in other countries, and one of them may use it to improve its own AI models; we cannot delete what a provider keeps. Please do not put personal information, or a problem that must stay secret, in a message (see above).
- Payments are taken by our reseller Paddle.com, the Merchant of Record for our orders. When you open the checkout, your email address, our order reference and your account number on this site are passed to Paddle; at checkout you give it your payment details and country (and sometimes a postcode). Paddle processes them under its own privacy notice and keeps its own records of your purchases. If you leave the checkout without paying, Paddle may send you one reminder. Paddle tells us what was bought, when, for how much (with tax), and the state of your subscription, refunds and chargebacks, so we can apply them to your account. The pricing and account pages load Paddle's script to show prices and open the checkout, so Paddle also sees those page visits.
- If you choose Continue with Google, Google sees that you sign in to this site, under Google's privacy policy.
- Pages load fonts from Google Fonts and a maths typesetting library from jsDelivr, so those services see your browser's request.
- We do not sell your data and do not share it with anyone else, except the providers that host the site and send its email, which process it only on our behalf, and unless the law requires it.
Cookies
One cookie keeps you signed in. Your colour theme and a few display choices are kept in your browser's local storage. On the pricing and account pages, Paddle's script may set cookies of its own — for example a short-lived security cookie that tells people from bots — under Paddle's privacy notice. We set no advertising or tracking cookies.
Your email address is used for your account only: confirming the address, signing in (including the sign-in codes we email when you ask for one), password resets and replies about your orders. When you open the checkout it is also passed to Paddle, so the checkout can be filled in and the receipt reaches you. No newsletters, and it is never sold.
Keeping and deleting
- Your conversations and figures are kept until you delete them or your account. You can delete a conversation from the history in the app: it is deleted from our server at once — its messages, its figures and everything the server holds of it in memory. Our backups never include conversations; our hosting provider's weekly backups of the whole server are replaced within three weeks.
- To delete your account, write to contact@makegeodiagrams.com from the account's email address. We delete the account, its conversations and figures within 30 days; the account's details then leave our backups of account records within 30 days more. Order records are kept as long as accounting rules require, and Paddle keeps its own records of your purchases under its privacy notice.
- You can also ask for a copy of what we hold about you.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes; an important change will be announced on the site first.
